Over 7 million Fastags released so far, 330% jump in sales

The central government said on Wednesday that more than 70 lakh fastags have been issued so far. On Tuesday, the highest number of 1,35,583 tags were sold. This is the highest level of sales in a day.

The National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) program was implemented across the country to eliminate traffic bottlenecks and facilitate traffic collection. This is a major initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement, “To date, more than 70 lakh fastags have been issued. On November 26, 2019 (Tuesday), the maximum number of 1,35,583 tags were released in a single day. The highest 1.03 lakh tags were issued from day one.

Fastag sales increase drastically

On a daily basis, an average of 330 per cent growth has been recorded in issuing Fastag. This figure increased from 8,000 in July to 35,000 tags in November. The statement said that after the release of Fastag on November 21, there has been a rise in Fastag sales. Fastag is being accepted at more than 560 toll plazas and is being extended further.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has prescribed the colors of fast tags for vehicles. The vehicle will be identified on the basis of these only. Fast tags given on toll plazas are also being given on this basis.

Entry without Fastag will be fined

December 1 means that if your car is not fastened from next month, then the difficulties can increase. In fact, to promote digital payments, the central government has made a fastgast mandatory on the toll plaza of the National Highway from next month. After its implementation, if a vehicle is entering the “fastag lane” without the fast tag, it may have to pay double the toll tax.

What is fastag?

The Fastag Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag will be placed on the vehicle’s windscreen. After applying this, if you take a car and go through the toll plaza then there is no need to stop. The cameras on the toll plaza will scan it and the amount will be automatically deducted from your account. However, it is important that your fast tag is recharged. Please tell here that fastag will work only on national highway too. It is not effective for state highways. Fastag can be recharged through the My FASTag app or through NetBanking, Credit / Debit Card, UPI and other popular methods.
