For the most part, fans have found Asuelu to be an easy-going guy that obviously loves his wife deeply. But this season of the TLC show has cast a new light on the father of two. He is coming off selfish and ignorant. On Sunday’s new episode fans watched as the couple took their children to the pediatrician to ask about vaccinations. After the procedure was done and the doctor had stepped out of the room, Asuelu asked if the woman was the doctor or nurse. Kalani laughed and explained it was in fact the doctor. Fans were insulted by the lack of knowledge but were also forgetting that in Samoa it is rare that the reality star would have seen a female doctor.
TLC viewers are concerned that Asuelu is being painted out to be the villain of the new series. The TLC personality’s old fashion thinking is causing him to lose viewer support. Fans were already upset with his lack of effort to help his wife with their two boys. Instead, choosing to go off to play volleyball while she struggled at home. Even his father-in-law had a chat with him, but his words fell on deaf ears.
Even though there seems to be trouble in paradise, fans of the popular show are routing for the South Pacific couple. Both Aseulu and Kalani come across genuine. Hopefully, his pilgrimage home will give him the wake-up call he needs. While fans support his need to find a balance, they hope he does so much quicker since Kalani is obviosuly becoming fed up.
