Indian and Chinese forces have locked in a standoff on the de-facto Himalayan border since May.
A senior US Congressman on Friday condemned the Chinese Army’s acts of aggression in India’s Ladakh region leading to deadly clashes between your two countries across the Type of Actual Control (LAC), alleging that Beijing aims to redraw the settled border by force.
Indian and Chinese troops have already been locked in a bitter standoff in a number of areas across the LAC in eastern Ladakh since May 5. The problem deteriorated last month following Galwan Valley clashes where 20 Indian Army personnel were killed and an unconfirmed amount of Chinese soldiers died.
“I rise to condemn action taken by the People’s Republic of China, or PRC in Ladakh region of India that resulted in deadly clashes between your two countries on June 15,on Friday ” Congressman Frank Pallone said on to the floor of the united states House of Representatives.
“Since — the simple truth is — 1962, the PRC and India have already been divided by way of a 2,100-mile-long Type of Actual Control. In the months resulting in this clash, the PRC military amassed 5 reportedly, 00 soldiers along this boundary… that clearly designed to re-draw long standing settled borders by force and aggression,” Mr Pallone said.
This intention of encroachment and escalatory tactics utilized by the PRC are in keeping with another provocative actions its forces took throughout south and southeast Asia, the Democratic Congressman from NJ said.
To counter this, the home of Representatives has passed an amendment that calls on China to cease the military aggression and urges immediate diplomatic action to avoid further escalation of conflict, Mr Pallone said.
“I’ll continue to use my colleagues in the Congress to greatly help bolster our vital relationship with India,” the Congressman said.
